Junior High at SCSSA covers Years 7 to 11. Students begin with a broad subject base, progressively specializing as they approach IGCSE examinations in Years 10 and 11. This is where academic identity forms: students discover what they’re good at, what they enjoy, and where their strengths will take them.
All examinations are set and marked by Pearson Edexcel (UK). Your child’s IGCSE certificate is identical in weight and recognition to one earned in London, Dubai, or Singapore.

How Subject Choices Work
In Years 7-9, students study a broad curriculum. In Year 9, students and parents meet with the guidance team to select IGCSE options (typically 7-9 subjects). Choices are guided by the student’s strengths, interests, and intended pathway.
Assessment
Internal assessments and mock examinations prepare students for final IGCSE exams in Year 11. Results are graded 9-1 (international grading) and form the basis for A-Level or BTEC entry.
Results
In 2026, 83.7% of entries achieved grades 9-4. 47 students achieved 5+ IGCSEs grade and above.
Pastoral Care
Every student has a form tutor who monitors academic progress, attendance, behavior, and wellbeing. Career guidance begins in Year 9 with subject options counselling and continues through Years 10-11 with university and pathway planning.
